My Favorite Tried and True Homemade Brownies

Brownies are the ultimate chocolate treat. When you’re craving chocolate, there is nothing that solves your craving faster than a dense, fudgy brownie filled with chocolate chips!

Cook Time 30 minutes
Total Time 50 minutes
Servings: 9 brownies

Ingredients
  

  • 8 tablespoons Butter 1 stick
  • 1/3 cup Cocoa Powder
  • 2 Eggs room temperature
  • 1 Egg Yolk room temperature
  • 1 cup White Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 3/4 cup Flour
  • 1 cup Dark Chocolate Chips
  • 1 cup Semisweet Chocolate Chips or your favorite kind!
  • 1 cup Walnuts

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F / 180 C.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter.
  3. Add the cocoa powder to the saucepan and stir until completely incorporated.
  4. Take the saucepan off the heat and allow it to sit for several minutes.
  5. Add 2 eggs and the egg yolk to a bowl with 1 cup of white sugar. Using an electric mixer, beat on medium speed for 4-5 minutes, until the mixture is pale and thickened.
  6. Add the flour and salt to the egg mixture and fold with a spatula.
  7. Melt the dark chocolate chips in a new saucepan or in a bowl in the microwave.
  8. Add the melted dark chocolate chips and begin to fold them into the egg mixture.
  9. Add the melted butter and cocoa powder to the bowl. Fold until both the melted chocolate and butter are completely incorporated.
  10. Add in the chocolate chips and walnuts and fold one more time.
  11. Pour the batter into a greased 8×8 metal baking dish.
  12. Bake at 350 F / 180 C for 30 minutes.
  13. Let the brownies rest at room temperature for one hour.
  14. Enjoy!
